Congratulations and well done to Alice for receiving the following:

  • Recognition for the contribution made on behalf of the library to the Reimagine Education 2021 Global Education Award! Alice was invited to the Industry Breakfast networking event where she along with other teaching and support staff received this recognition.

“Late 2021, Impact Labs (School of Design units) won a Global Education Award from a field of over 1,100 entrants, also winning Gold in the Presence Learning Category. These two QS Wharton Re-imagine Education Awards are a massive achievement for us!”

Reimagine Education 2021 Global Education Award

  • A thank you for library/SSG (Amber Forsyth, Language and Learning Educator) support for final year fashion student

  • Congratulations and well done to Stephanie J, Kate and Peter for receiving a wonderful compliment from Deanne Johnston, a Doctor of Education student. Deanne has reached out to the Education Liaison Team and requested help to look for a psychology test that is known as the Self-Regulated Learning Questionnaire (SRLQ), which she has attempted to locate for some time. Stephanie, with the help of Kate and helpful tips from Peter were able to locate the test and relayed the findings back to Deanne which was greatly appreciated.

  • Congratulations and well done to Sally for receiving wonderful feedback on the following activities:
    • Meeting with a new academic to help her settle in and import her publications – they really appreciated library’s help and warm approach
    • Helping one of the researchers to choose the right database to search for the topic
    • Assisting an academic staff (with the help of Paula Callan from OSC with their new publishing agreement)

We were very delighted to have the pleasure of hosting the Author Talk Event with Aunty Lesley Williams – Marching with Mission on 13th September at our beautiful Curriculum Collection space. The event went very well and was well attended. A special thank you to Cameron R and Rosie G for help meeting, greeting and providing directions to the participants, Catherine Redbourne from OSC for helping with the photo taking and setting up the presenter’s table, and for Teresa, Connor and Rosie M for helping with the room set up. Such a wonderful teamwork!

Pause for Support Expo

Kelvin Grove Library staff across multiple teams have assisted students during the Pause for Support series of events on 13th and 15th September. The event, hosted by Student Services, was targeted towards students who may be considering withdrawing from their units before the Academic Census date. It was held across three days at both KG and GP campuses and online to connect students with services for academic, library, wellbeing and social support.

A huge thank you to Stephanie J, Nick, Peter, Teresa and Helen B for assisting the students at the face to face event in KG and to Alice for assisting at the online one. Questions from students mainly focused on support services available to them, as well as what discipline-specific resources they could access during their studies.

New Location for the Research and Referencing Appointment Services

It was really exciting for our LA Team to have their Research and Referencing appointments relocated from Meeting Room R314 to Room 8 on level 2 (located at the back of HiQ space, next to the holds/ printing area).

The relocation has definitely provided us with the following benefits:

  • More accessible space with room for wheelchairs
  • More visibility
  • Encourages information sharing with, and referrals from, HiQ staff
  • Frees up R314 for student use instead

Lego as Serious Play (LSP) Workshop with Dr Boon Lee

Bruce has attended a LSP workshop titled “How Library services can provide users a seamless user experience in the current environment” on 29th September. The workshop was facilitated by Dr Boon Lee, Senior Lecturer, School of Economics and Finance and involved 10 participants who use Lego as SeriousPlay as a tool.
