assistance provided to quite a number of researchers including Professor David Thambiratnam, Dr Saskia Neale and new to QUT Dr Mohammad Mirkhalaf Valashani relating to setting up of author profiles across multiple platforms and explaining and demonstrating the interaction between platforms.

Readings list created for EGB322 and EGH423 for Dr Wim Dekkers and for Professor Ashantha Goonetilleke for new civil engineering unit EGB124. For EGB124 reading list also provided quite a number of resources relating to indigenous perspectives.

Faculty of Science Liaison (Gabrielle Hayes)

attended the Meet, Greet and Eat session for HDRs at Kelvin Grove in the Curriculum Collection.  The students who attended were pretty chatty and seemed to enjoy it.  There were about 5 from Science who turned up.  Of the 60 or so who registered, about 1/3 showed up.  There were also prizes to be had, and the food was pretty good.

attended the Insentia/Media Monitors training run by Rod Chester.  Media Monitors is managed by Marketing and Communication, and used for various uses around the University.  It is a useful resource when looking for evidence of impact for researchers, as it captures some media mentions not recorded elsewhere.  Rod works with most of the Tier 1 research centres to provide them with the media mentions, but has also worked with individuals.

investigated ABS and other workforce stats for Sharon Altena (Senior Curriculum and Learning Designer).  She was looking for some updated information on employment and earnings for Game Designers to inform a design sprint.  She is involved in course redesign for the Bachelor of IT and the Bachelor of Games and Interactive Environments.  Ultimately, those stats have not been released (October 2022), but she thinks the information will be useful for future course redesign activities.

began the Project “Inclusion of Indigenous Perspectives in the QUT Library Collection Sciences subject areas”.  An investigation and extensive searching is being done looking for resources, published in the last 5 years that fits QUT (Queensland University of Technology) Library’s Collection Development policy.  Focus is on Indigenous Authors.

Library Advisers (Stephanie Jacobs)

With the enquiry services in off-peak, July saw the Library Advisers focused on delivering workshops in preparation for Semester 2, working on faculty-specific tasks or engaging in project work.  Even in the quieter period the GP Library Adviser team helped 57 students across chat and appointments.  The Team is now gearing up for the period from Week 3 onwards, so listen out for rapid keystrokes and the squeak of car wheels as we move quick to help our clients!

The QUT D&D Guild took over our spaces on level 2 on two occasions, on 5th July and 3rd August.  It looks like there will be another event happening soon.

Collection Access (Cameron MacLeod)

The GP Collection Access Team assisted with the preparation of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation Book Sale, as well as with the clean up after the event.
