Events in 2022

Justice Collection Move (January)

The interfiling of the Justice collection into the general collection at KG was completed. Our team hosted a welcome to the KG Library morning tea for the School of Justice team in April.

Industrial Design Collection Relocation Project (June)

The GP and KG collection access teams completed relocating hundreds of Industrial Design resources from GP to KG to support the CIESJ Faculty at KG.

Trive/ DINO (May) Pause for Support (September)

Our partners in Disability Service invited us to join the Thrive/ DINO (Drop In Not Out) Event to promote student services.

ALIA National Simultaneous Storytime 2022
We were so delighted to have the privilege of hosting the ALIA National Simultaneous Storytime at our beautiful Curriculum Collection space in May.

Murri School Day Visit

We were privileged to host the Murri School for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s visit in August, which was part of their QUT Kelvin Grove campus visit. The Education Team and Oodgeroo Librarian’s were awarded the Making a Difference Awards as part of the Library 2022 Annual awards, for their contribution to the successful day.

Author Talk Event

We were very delighted to have the pleasure of hosting the Author Talk Event with Aunty Lesley Williams – Marching with Mission on 13th September at our beautiful Curriculum Collection space.

Executive Immersion Program

Ken Beutel, Executive Director of QUT College took part in the Executive Immersion Program during August to September. Ken was appreciative to learn about our Library and Enquiry Services.

Night Against Procrastination

The Night Against Procrastination event was held in October to support students with their end of semester enquiries.

Author Talk Event

Staffing Welcomes and Farewells in 2022

Welcomes

  • Danielle Laing was appointed to the Senior Library Adviser role at KG Library (March)
  • Bruce Munro commenced as Manager, Library Service Kelvin Grove (May)
  • Stephanie Jacobs joined the CIESJ Liaison Team as Liaison Librarian supporting Educational fixed-term from July.
  • Kate Harbison continued with the CIESJ Liaison Team as Liaison Librarian supporting Educational fixed-term from July.
  • Tom Mullins joined the Liaison Librarians fixed-term supporting CIESJ July to September, and Health during October to November.
  • Marvin Van Prooijen joined the Liaison Librarian fixed-term supporting Health Team during October to November,
  • Nicholas Morgan was appointed as a Library Adviser with the Health team from August to November.
  • Lara Vanderstaay was appointed as a Library Adviser with the Health team from August to December.
  • Cameron Deegan was welcomed as Collection Access Assistant joining the CA team from July to November.
  • Connor Emerson who was appointed as a Collection Access Assistant with the Collection Access Team from August to December.
  • Both Gabriel Boyland and David Huynh joined the CA Team as Collection Access Assistant backfilling roles from October to December.

Farewells

  • Gillian Harrison retired from QUT in June.
  • Madonna Falco resigned from her Document Delivery Assistant role at the end of August.
  • Denise Frost said farewell from her Liaison Librarian role for CIESJ Team in September.
  • Rosanna Milanesi the best for joining the LRS Team as Resources Assistant in September.
  • Rosie Glynn has taken up a position of Learning Designer with the Learning and Teaching Unit at QUT finishing up with the library in October.

November Highlights

  • Health Librarian’s Networking Group (HeaLING) meeting on 11 Nov. The group met for the first time since July 2019. Well done and thank you to Peter for the organising this well attended meeting!
  • Ellen and Alice were proud to be awarded The School of Creative Practice “Significant Supporter of the School” Award. Congrats and well done Ellen and Alice!
  • Wellness Clay Club – KG L&R Team. Thanks to the wellness clay clubbers who created some beautiful vessels and decorations in time for Christmas (featured in the above and below image)
  • We are delighted to have Narola Changkija and Janelle Hamling doing their vocational placement at KG Library from 28 Nov – 9 Dec.
