Digital Teaching
Our students are constantly teaching and mentoring their peers online. How do we make sure they do this in constructive ways?
Learning Objectives
- Design learning resources using digital tools
- Teach other students using digital technology
- Understand how peer learning assists with gaining knowledge
- Mentor peers to build confidence with digital tools
- Help facilitate online learning environments
Activities
Design an online learning resource
- Give the students a learning objective that maps back to course content.
- Have them develop a short online task in Zoom (using the polls, whiteboard or other feature) to meet this learning objective.
Assess peer learning
- Make a short video or act out a Think. Pair. Share in front of the students.
- Have them write down their thoughts on the responses, and how they would do things better if faced with the same experience.
Mentorship for digital learning spaces
- Ask the students to tell you, anonymously, how confident they feel using the digital tools required for their learning.
- Pair the students with someone who is very confident and have them teach each other how best to use the tools.
