Digital Teaching

Our students are constantly teaching and mentoring their peers online. How do we make sure they do this in constructive ways?

  Learning Objectives

  • Design learning resources using digital tools
  • Teach other students using digital technology
  • Understand how peer learning assists with gaining knowledge
  • Mentor peers to build confidence with digital tools
  • Help facilitate online learning environments

  Activities

Design an online learning resource

  1. Give the students a learning objective that maps back to course content.
  2. Have them develop a short online task in Zoom (using the polls, whiteboard or other feature) to meet this learning objective.

Assess peer learning

  1. Make a short video or act out a Think. Pair. Share in front of the students.
  2. Have them write down their thoughts on the responses, and how they would do things better if faced with the same experience.

Mentorship for digital learning spaces

  1. Ask the students to tell you, anonymously, how confident they feel using the digital tools required for their learning.
  2. Pair the students with someone who is very confident and have them teach each other how best to use the tools.
