TOPIC 6.3: Getting Started on your Draft Proposal – the initial concept/project idea

Sponsor Meeting – required

You need to conduct a briefing meeting with your Sponsor prior to submitting your draft proposal. The objective is to identify and agree on the challenge (opportunity or problem) your Sponsor would like you to address.

Your Sponsor may have a clear idea of the challenge they would like you to address, or you may need to negotiate with them to help identify the issues involved.

If you have not done so already, you can provide a Sponsor Briefing to your Sponsor.  This brief provides information on the aims and expectations of the workplace project and their role as Sponsor.  You can access this brief from the Workplace Project Folder on the PSMP Community Site in the Workplace Project section though the blue navigation panel.

The Draft Proposal should be short and to the point.  It is designed to allow you and your Sponsor to negotiate a suitable project and define the scope of the project.

This draft proposal will assist you to clarify your tasks and feel confident that your project idea meets the requirements of the unit and allow your Sponsor to be clear about what it is reasonable to expect.

Required
  1. Review the Workplace Project module on the PSMP Community Site.
  2. Create the Draft Proposal in preparation for your Sponsor meeting.
