Module Six: Career and Wellbeing
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of your participation in Module 6, you should be able to:
- Understand and identify the linkages between personal values and career choices.
- Explore the opportunities available in choosing the public sector as a vocation.
- Understand the key elements of resilience and well-being both personally and in leading and managing.
- Describe the role of mentoring in providing support in personal learning and growth.
- Reflect on personal career goals and ongoing development and growth opportunities.
In this final module, we turn our attention to your ongoing journey of career and personal development – including the increasing need for managing personal wellbeing and being adaptable for a sustainable and meaningful career.
Through a range of reflective processes, we will look at:
- the ‘values – vocation’ link – what draws us to certain career choices
- wellbeing and resilience – how you engage in self-care and maintain optimism and resilience in the face of challenge
- the role of adaptability, and
- mentoring relationships – how you leverage the expertise and insights of those around you.
The workshops and discussions that you took part in with your unit colleagues should also provide some excellent additional insights as you come to the end of this unit and study and prepare for your second assessment.
Remember to share your insights along the way through the discussion forums and with those, you consider to be your supports in your own environment.
